Amaravati, March 29
TDP National President and former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday called upon the party cadres to fight back with self-confidence and rededicate their sacrifices to save the people of Andhra Pradesh from the destructive, undemocratic and atrocious rule of the YSRCP in the State.
Mr. Naidu recalled how NTR founded the party and upheld the prestige of the Telugu people at the national and international levels at a time when there was no recognition nor identity for them at all. Over the last 39 years, many rivals tried hard but eventually failed to crush the TDP and the present Chief Minister would also meet with similar failure despite his party’s politically motivated attacks and atrocities.
The TDP chief unfurled the party flag and cut a cake at the party office here on the occasion of the 40th Foundation Day celebrations. Party National General Secretary Nara Lokesh, Politburo Member Varla Ramaiah, former Minister Alapati Rajendra Prasad and others were present.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu asserted that TDP founder NTR redefined politics and ushered in welfare-driven pro-people programmes like Rs. 2 per kg rice scheme, pucca houses and Rs 50 per HP slab system on agricultural current connections that later became role models for the rest of the country. The ‘mandalika’ system brought in by NTR provided a new lease of life for the common people who were till then suffering under the exploitation from village level ‘munasabs’ and officials. At that time itself, attacks were launched on the TDP but the party showed resilience and emerged as an unstoppable and unputdownable force in AP political scene.
Mr. Naidu slammed the Jagan Reddy regime for launching political harassment and attacks against rivals and even people just for questioning its destructive activities like the suppression of the Dalits, backward classes and all sections of society. In the previous regime, the TDP put in place for a balanced growth and development plan along with welfare. Now, the YCP turned everything in reverse gear with no sign of development even as sand which should be provided to people with free of cost turned into gold because of the ruling party’s atrocious policy. The AP people were silently suffering with anguish at the manifold damage being caused to the State.
Mr. Naidu said that after bifurcation, no Chief Minister has tried to do anything against Hyderabad which continued to witness unhindered development. Even Telangana CM K Chandrasekhara Rao was now saying that in the past, with one acre in AP, one could buy three acres in Telangana but the scene reversed now as anybody could buy two acres in Telangana now with one acre in AP. While the TDP went forward with a vision and aimed at developing the residual AP into a number one State, the YCP regime followed a destructive path.
Condemning the YCP activities, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu recalled how a Rajahmundry Dalit youth was tonsured and humiliated just for expressing his objection to exploitation of sand by the ruling party leaders. Then, a doctor was branded as insane and harassed just for asking for a face mask in order to render services to the public in the Coronavirus epidemic time. Whereas, one youth was beaten to death just for not wearing a mask. Om Pratap died amid suspicious circumstances after he made public criticism of the harmful liquor brands being sold by the Jagan Reddy regime. His cell phone went untraced till now.
The TDP chief asserted that theirs was the only party which would be able to fight back the rowdyism and atrocities of the ruling YCP. Ultimately, it would be the TDP which would rewrite history by coming to power once again in the next elections with the popular support.
Mr. Naidu said that the CM and his partymen would pay heavily for their false cases, human rights violations and perpetration of the faction-driven Raja Reddy constitution in place of the democratic Ambedkar constitution. In its long political history, the TDP never acted selfishly by forming coteries like the ruling YCP which was bent on looting and destroying the State for its selfish and narrow minded politics.
Mr. Naidu recalled how their party rule ushered in a development-driven knowledge economy in the united AP when wealth creation became possible in Hyderabad with golden opportunities created for the young generation. The information technology was promoted in a big way with projects like the HiTech City and Cyberabad development. The financial district, the outer ring road, genome valley and such projects stood out as symbols of promising growth. Similar plans were made for the separated AP but the Jagan regime deliberately demolished all of it.
Mr. Naidu demanded the CM to explain why he was not able to bring Special Category Status even though his party had now got over 27 MPs in the Parliament as against the 25 MPs he requested for to pressure the Centre to fulfil the bifurcation promise. Even the Polavaram project was harmed with the YCP regime not being able to provide water to the farmers under this. CM Jagan put the Telugu sentiment on sale by proposing to sell 7,000 acres of land in order to save the Visakha Steel Plant.
