Radial gate trial successful—34 out of 48 spillway gates installed at Polavaram project
Polavaram, March 26 :
Thirty four of the total 48 radial gates of the Polavaram project spillway have been installed according to a press release.
The different components of the huge gates with the capacity to endure pressures of up to 2400 metric tonnes are also being installed.
56 of the total 96 hydraulic cylinders that constitute part of the gate hosting system have been installed and five out of total 24 power packs are also in place according to the release.
All the ten sluice gates have been installed and the hydraulic cylinders for five of them have already been fixed.
Trial runs have been conducted on 43rd and 44th radial gates . The 44th gate was lifted 6 metres high and 3 metres down at a speed of 1.5 metres per minute during the trials .
Polavaram Project Chief Engineer Sudhakar Babu, SE Narasimha Murthy, Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Limited GM Satish Babu over saw the trial run.

మొదటిగా 44వ గేటును 6మీటర్లు పైకి ఎత్తి మరలా 3మీటర్లు కిందకి దించిన అధికారులు
హైడ్రాలిక్ సిలిండర్ సాయంతో గేటును నిమిషానికి 1.5మీటర్లు ఎత్తే అవకాశం
2400టన్నుల వత్తిడిని సైతం తట్టుకునేలా గేట్ల డిజైన్.
ట్రయల్ రన్ విజయవంతం కావడంతో మిగతా గేట్లను ఎత్తేందుకు చురుకుగా సాగుతున్న పనులు.
