Property tax hike does not exceed 15 per cent, says Botcha

Visakhapatnam, June 10:

State Municipal Administration Minister Botcha Satyanarayana has made it clear that the hike in property tax does not exceed 15 per cent.
Addressing the media in Visakhapatnam on Thursday, Mr. Satyanarayana said the opposition parties are unnecessarily making it an issue.
The Minister reminded that a statement on property tax increase was made in the Assembly before the GVMC elections. The government decided to fix tax based on the property value and not on the basis of rent and enacted a law on it after taking the opinion of apartment associations, he added.
Reacting to the TDP criticism about Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s tour to Delhi, Mr. Satyanarayana said it became a practice for the TDP to indulge in false propaganda whenever the Chief Minister visits Delhi. The TDP should stop politicising the Chief Minister’s Delhi trip, he said.
Mr. Satyanarayana reiterated that Visakhapatnam would be made the executive capital at any cost.
