Visakhapatnam, May 19:
Pedada Ramani Kumari, who quit the Congress a couple of days ago, joined the YSRCP in the presence of Rajya Sabha member V. Vijaya Sai Reddy, Tourism Minister Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao and other leaders in Visakhapatnam on Wednesday.
Mr. Vijaya Sai Reddy welcomed her into the party by putting the party kanduva around her neck.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Ramani Kumari said she joined the YSRCP being attracted by the welfare policies of the government. Lauding Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for introducing a number of schemes for the uplift of the poor, she vowed to strive for further strengthening the party. She also thanked the Chief Minister for taking a decision to make Visakhapatnam the executive capital of the State.
While in Congress, Ms. Ramani Kumari had served as the AP State Mahila Congress president.
Ms. Ramani Kumari unsuccessfully contested from Visakhapatnam West Assembly segment in 2014 and Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha constituency in 2019 elections.
