Speaking with thousands of students, parents, academics, and activists in a Digital Town Hall, Nara Lokesh condemned the government for deciding to hold 10th and Inter exams despite the increase in COVID cases. . He said people should realise how dangerous it was that it put 15 lakh students and 1 lakh teachers at deadly risk. TNSF State President MV Pranav Gopal organized the Digital Town Hall. Lokesh speaking aloud his thoughts said that he asked himself if he would send his own kid Devansh to exams if he were in 10th class. This wasn’t a political exercise but a humanitarian request to the government, especially when children and youth below 30 years made up 20-40% of the covid cases this time.
About 50 teachers were reported dead so far in the state. AP ranked 5th in India in total Covid-19 cases, 2nd in Vaccine wastage. Lokesh pointed out that many employees of the secretariat were suffering from corona and a few of them passed away. Lokesh asked if the Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy could guarantee that corona would not infect students and their parents. He pointed out hundreds of students were infected with covid-19 in Vijayawada and Rajahmundry in the last 24 hours.
